CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) update

To our Customers We Serve:

First, we hope that you and your family members continue to be healthy and safe. Your health along with our employees’ health is of the utmost importance.

American State Bank and ASB Financial Center are proactively implementing several processes that will protect our customers, our staff and our community from the spread of illness. Currently, there are no known cases within our company nor within our employees’ family members. We are continuing to take proactive measures to exercise our social responsibility as a corporate citizen, in helping minimize the spread of the virus. Here are some things we want you to know that we are doing:

Drive-up and Walk-up Access Only, Beginning March 18, 2020 until further notice:

  • Per the direction of our Public Health office, they have recommended temporary limited public access of bank lobbies to the public at all locations in Osceola, Lamoni and Winterset. We will have full drive-up access for deposits, check cashing, loan payments, withdrawals and transfers, cash, and signing of papers at all our drive-ups. This precautionary measure comes from Governor Reynolds direction to limit mass gathering of more than 10 people until directed otherwise.
  • The bank will follow the lead of local Public Health officials and guidance from Governor Reynolds on reassessing the situation which is an ongoing changing process.
  • American State Bank will strive to continue to deliver services and support to our clients with as little interruption as possible. As the situation continues to develop, we will be updating our website posts to keep you informed.
  • We know that most things can be done through the drive-up, digitally, phone, fax, mail, or other means. Reference our website for updated hours that may even be extended through this period. If you feel you need help please call us at any of the numbers listed below.
  • If you feel you desire an in-person meeting, please call us so we can set up an appointment so we can be ready to serve you. We can make arrangements to help you access a safety deposit box, open an account, schedule an appointment with a lender, or meet with one of our Financial Advisors.
  • We are keeping our employees informed about the situation, as well as providing expert information about how to prevent the spread of the virus in the workplace. We feel confident that we are ready to respond quickly should additional actions be necessary.
  • We have implemented our Business Continuity Plan which focuses on the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19 and places high priority on the health and safety of our bank employees and customers.
  • We are following the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Iowa Public Health Department.
  • We want to make sure that our clients receive the service they are accustomed to. We have emergency plans in place should we experience a significant impact to staffing or building access. Above all, you should know that ASB employees will work together to ensure financial stability and that services to our customers are delivered under the plans mentioned.
  • Your deposits are safe and important banking functions will remain available to our clients.

Consider these banking options

  • If you do not feel well, don’t come to the bank. Preferably stay home and rest and evaluate your health; and do your banking another day.
  • Drive through options are available at each of our locations: Osceola (2); Lamoni and Winterset. You can use this option to limit face to face contact and still conduct your business as you deem appropriate.
  • Deposits can be made at designated ASB ATMs, through our night depositories, mobile deposit, or for commercial customers, remote capture.
  • Utilize our online and our mobile banking app as well as Telebanc to check balances, transfer money, deposit checks and even pay bills. Tutorials for using our electronic products are available at our website, www.americanstatebank.com
  • Access our ATMs 24/7.
  • Many transactions and answers can be handled by phone with the best contact phone numbers listed below.

Be aware of scams

  • Be on the lookout for phony emails, texts and phone calls as scammers are already committing fraudulent activity.
  • Never share sensitive information. If you receive a suspicious email or text don’t click on links or open attachments as they may be malicious.
  • Always verify the authenticity of a website before making a donation or purchase.
